Nottingham curry house owners make the “Kings of Curry” list

Whether you are an Indian catering business, an Asian restaurant or a street food business, the need for a great reputation is paramount. With the open nature of the internet as well as the space for images of food on social media, restaurants really need to be perfect. With one bad review ruining reputation for many, being recognised in a positive light is always welcomed, with one Nottingham curry house experiencing just that!

Brothers Shelley and Sunny Anand’s of Nottingham are happy to be representing Nottingham in online reservation service Open Table’s “Kings of Curry” list. Based on customer reviews left on the website, with The Cumin ranking in The Top 20 British restaurants.

“It’s a great honour for us,” says Shelley.

“Out of 9,000 restaurants in Britain, to be in the top 20 is a proud moment for the business. Open Table is the world’s biggest booking website. We’ve been in the business for 30 years and this is the biggest thing in our careers.”

Working with an admirable air if tradition their straight-forward approach could well be the catalyst of the brothers’ success:

“We try to do the traditional things very well,” says Sunny. “We don’t do ostrich or lobster. We are more of a casual, traditional, authentic Indian restaurant” Shelley continues.

With the two entrepreneurs taking their father’s dreams of owning a credible restaurant, this accolade marks ten years of hard work.

The Open Table acknowledgement reads:

“Spread over two floors, The Cumin is a great choice for group dinners and family feasts. The menu offers classic curries and Indian street snacks, as well as some excellent vegetarian and seafood options such as Goan prawn curry and mutter paneer.”

At Maharaja we would like to say a massive well done to the duo and wish them further luck with the business.
